While you do not need to use simplehuman liners with our trash cans, we highly recommend using our custom fit liners for best overall experience, as we do have some unique shapes to some of our trash cans. Our custom fit liners are tailored to fit our cans perfectly so they stay in place and don't slip. They're also extra strong, which makes them less likely to rip and tear, even when they are full!
