It is best to trigger the sensor from the top, not the front. If it still does not open, the batteries may be low or sensor can may need to be reset. To do so:
- Lift up the trim ring and lower it back down.
- Make sure there is no power to the unit – remove the batteries or unplug the AC adapter’s power cable from the sensor can.
- Wipe the sensor lens clean using rubbing alcohol.
- Wait 1 minute, then re-insert new alkaline batteries or plug the unit back in. If you're using batteries, we recommend using alkaline batteries like Duracell or Energizer.
- Please ensure that you are only using one power source. For instance, if you are using the power adapter, do not insert batteries into the unit. If using batteries, do not have the unit plugged in.
Please note, the first several opening and closing cycles are usually slower than normal. The lid opening angle may not be high enough to take the bucket out. This is normal. You can consider the first 20 openings as the warm up period.
